From time to time, I find myself reaching for magic content and I really mean white magic, witches, plants, nature, whatever that is that can inspire a little bit in magic in me and definitely THIS is one of those times where I need desperately some magical content.

It’s usually easier to find magical movies, in fact, Disney has a pretty big reserve of them (The Chronicles of Narnia being my absolute favorite!), but when it comes to shows with real people in it, I have to say that it’s pretty difficult to find really good shows about magic that aren’t scary and can actually include magic as special effects. That’s why I created my list of 5 shows that I’ve watched that I think are full of magic or magical creatures and if you’re like me and you like magic, then you will really enjoy these shows.

SHOWS ABOUT MAGIC YOU CAN STREAM ON NETFLIX

THE WITCHER –

People went nuts about this show back in December, and after reading about it so much on twitter I’ve decided to binge. Henry Cavill plays our favorite monster hunter character: Geralt de Rivia. I must admit that I could hear Henry Cavil’s character saying “Jaskier” my whole life, but that’s another topic.

This show is more about magical creatures than it is about magic itself but still fulfill my need for magical content. The Witcher tells the journey of a monster hunter who needs to *obviously* hunt monsters in order to get paid, eat and basically live. People pay him to exterminate what they call “plagues” but it’s never that simple. What I liked about this show is that our main character is SO serious but has to face pretty ridiculous situations which are always something so funny to watch. I loved it, but without a doubt, my favorite character has to be Yennefer, the witch. I think she’s the one who has the best development in the first season and her makeup is always perfect.

LUNA NERA –

I finished watching the first season of this show in just one day! It’s a show about witches and how they were haunted by men because back in the day they used to blame witches (or ehm... women basically) for everything that happened without a clear cause such as diseases. Therefore, women needed to hide from them. It’s an Italian show and I was pretty surprised to find that the show is created, written and directed by women, which really explains why details are so on point.

While they don’t really do that much magic on the show, because it's more about romance and what I like to call “psychological manipulation”, it has pretty decent scenes of women doing magic. What I loved the most about this show is, first of all, the hair of the witches. The hairstyles were all super big and braided like Celtics and were oh, so nice to see and I noticed as well that makeup on this show is minimum, they rarely have any makeup on, which I think was refreshing to see. The plot was great and I passed from "Oh, I stan that man so much" to "I f****** hate him" in 6 episodes, and also, the plot twist at the end of the season really got me. It was soo good!

THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES –

Again, this is a show more about magical creatures than magic itself but it’s still pretty good at least the first season. This show is about an elfic princess that goes through a journey to save her people, and along in the journey, she finds a nice pair of friends. My favorite part of this show is the costume design, it’s SO good! Makeup is good as well, but definitely, costume design wins here for me. I think that from the list, this is my least favorite show, especially after season 1 when things just started to kind of flop.

THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA –

While the shows on this list are more about white magic this one is pretty dark! If you’re easily scared about demons I’d say you can skip this one, but if you’re good at watching that kind of stuff, then go ahead. This show is great!

Our main character is a half-witch and in this show, they make emphasis that witches need to sign a pact with Satan in order to get their powers, but turns out that our Sabrina isn’t a full blood witch, she’s a human witch, therefore she can choose if she wants to be a full witch or a human on her 16th birthday. Expect to see magical enchantments, magical creatures, demons, a lot of deaths (this show is on the same storyline as Riverdale) and other cool stuff. The way they portrayed everything about dark magic wasn’t scary at all, to me at least. Even when Satan makes its appearance on the show wasn't as scary as I was expecting. One of my favorite characters is a woman that you will see a lot on the show but it’s not until the very end that you’ll find out who she really is.

OTHER SHOWS ABOUT MAGIC ON OTHER PLATFORMS

THE MAGICIANS –

This is a more quirky, nerdy and funny show about magic. It’s about a group of teenagers-adults in our age, that find that they can make magic and they are called “magicians” and they go to this "magic university". I think this show is funny because sometimes they will get into extremely ridiculous situations, drugs and sex involved as well, as they learn how to use their magic. I really enjoyed this show but it’s more fun than other things and yes, you can see them throwing spells and making magic with their hands and stuff, and you can also see magical creatures as well. You can stream this show on Syfy.

THE SECRET CIRCLE –

My absolute favorite show about magic! The CW network created this show based on the books from L.J. Smith, but they canceled it after just the first season. The show is about Cassie, a teenage girl who was forced to live with her grandmother after a terrible accident, and she discovers that has magical powers, but not only that, but she also discovers that there’s a group of other teenagers in the same town that can make magic too. Some of them have their “family diaries” which help them to discover and explore magic on their own, without their parents noticing. There’s a big secret that parents of the town are hiding and the kids will find out what happened and why they no longer have powers.

I think I’ve watched the first and only season like 7 times. It’s so good! I am still so sad that no network picked this one up because it's so good! Everything about this show was magical and no other show could ever compare to it. You can watch it on Amazon or if you’re in the US in the CW Seed app.

If you have more recommendations about any magical show that I need to watch, please leave them in the comments! I’m always looking for something new to watch!

Early this year I set myself all of the goals that I wanted to achieve for 2020. I wrote everything I wanted to achieve or do down in my journal and made this board with pictures to keep me inspired during the year. One of the things I wanted to be better at was to be more conscious when consuming or buying a product. The reason for this particular goal was because I’ve been doing declutters on my room and there’s always something I’m not using enough that could go bad quickly. I don’t want any of the products that I buy to go bad before I can use them all because it seems like a waste of money, so I decided that that was going to be one of my focus goals this year.

I know that things are pretty messy right now, so much that my list of tasks and goals have just been thrown off the window, but I still really enjoyed those months as a conscious consumer and there are some lessons that I’ve learned during that time that I wanted to share with you.

I’m not a minimalist person at ALL! And on top of that, I’m a pretty messy, not organized person. However, I’ve always had a soft spot when it comes to recycling, reutilizing, DIY or anything ecologic or sustainable so that soft spot has made me jump slowly into the “zero waste” trend which then leads me to be more minimalist but mostly to be actually more conscious about how I am living. Like I said I’m not minimalist, I don’t consider myself a minimalist, but if there’s something I can learn from minimalist living, then I will try it, even more, if it can help with my anxiety.

I’ve always been an anxious person since I was a child. It took me twenty-something years of my life to assume that I was anxious about everything and honestly, that unconscious anxiety can really make you take bad choices in life. The whole point of life is to enjoy it and to live it, not to be constantly worrying about the future.

There’s nowhere that I love the most than going to buy beauty products. Nothing. That is my happy place. But sometimes I can really spend more money than I needed to, which is always unnecessary.  I started doing this very small and simple mental exercise that I’ve heard before, that is just simply asking yourself one question:  “do I really need this?”

From that point on, I started questioning myself and set a very straight line between “needing something” and “wanting something”. Curious how I’ve never thought of this before, nor how anxious I am when buying stuff. The feeling that "maybe next time I’ll go shopping I’m not going be able to buy a certain product or it will be simply gone" was constant in my brain and I didn’t directly notice.

When I started to ask myself that question was when I started becoming more aware of my spending habits and how much affected my anxiety.

Whenever I went to buy something that wasn’t a necessity, grabbed it and asked myself:  “do I really need this? Don’t I have a product similar to this at home?” if the answer was yes, then I’d say to myself: “Okay, then first finish off the one you have at home and then you’ll be rewarded buying this new product” and put the product back on the shelf. It’s funny because it feels like I’m talking to a toddler, but it works! The truth is that in my case, if I already have something similar at home that I really like, then it makes sense to use it all up prior to buying another product from the same category.

I started to do this and noticed that my shopping anxiety started to go away randomly. I was so relieved! I wasn’t anxious anymore and that was when I accidentally discovered that "conscious shopping" (like I like to call it!) helps with my anxiety.

The reward system became something fun, like a game where I started to use things more frequently to get my reward which technically was trying out a new product. At the same time, it's so satisfying to use all of the products that I have before throwing them away or giving them away.

Not only did it help with my anxiety, but it also helped me to save money! Since I wasn’t spending so much on products I didn’t need I was saving money and the next time I was buying something I actually needed I could spend a little more money to get a more “luxury” product. Honestly, this small question came with so many benefits for my mental health and side benefits that will probably make me try new minimalist habits.

I know there are a lot of people out there that suffer from anxiety and it can be difficult to deal with, even if you’re not fully conscious of it. I’m sharing here my small discovery that probably will not surprise anyone, but really worked with me and hopefully, it can help someone else too!

Hello everybody! Hope your 11th day (or whatever day that is it for you) of quarantine is going easy and smooth for you all. Since we’ve been having more time than usual laying around our house and working, I though that I would share some simple DIY’s that you could do this weekend at home. I have tried all of this DIY’s myself, so I tell you, these projects are fairly easy and I can tell because I consider myself like a beginner DIYer, so if you’re feeling like doing something, maybe you could give this ones a try!

01. DIY MAKEUP BAG

I’ve been doing makeup bags for me and to gift to other people for years! They are so easy to do and require minimal sewing skills. Tutorials are a great way to go because you simply follow the steps and you might not know how you did it, but you did it, which is what counts at the end, right?

The makeup bag pictured above is like one step more difficult to do, so here I am sharing an easier DIY bag. However, if you feel like going a little bit more difficult, then here’s the tutorial I used.

Since you may be running a little low on supplies, one thing you could do is recycle an old bag that you no longer use or that is in bad condition, remove the zipper and reuse it. I’ve done this many times before and it does really works! When you’re at home without being able to go out, recycling seems like the only way!

02. DIY PEYOTE STITCH RING

I recently did thistechnique and it was nice and soothing, it helped me with my anxiety and the result was very cute. Since I didn’t have all of the supplies I had to improvise a little bit, with a regular sewing needle, and sewing thread and some bead that I had, but needless to say that it worked, although I would have loved to have silver or golden beads to make something that I would actually wear more, but still I think it’s a nice project and will definitely be making many of this for my niece!

03. DIY PLEATHER BAG

I have to admit that I did this bag many weeks prior to the whole world pandemic situation, and definitely it was a little bit more tricky than the others diys but I feel like the video was well explained so it was easy to follow through. This bag, without a doubt has become my favorite accesorie lately (even better because I made it!). The tassel was another DIY that I made but it’s very simple and doesn’t need many skills apart from sewing. You can follow the tutorial here.

04. DIY REUSABLE MAKEUP REMOVER PADS

This is the perfect time to try and do the projects you’ve been wanting to do for so long, so here’s one of my favorites! Honestly, when I made mine I didn’t follow any tutorial, I just simply cut some square pieces of an old towel and a sheet that had holes and then sewed it all up using zig zag stitch and that was it! But, if you need a tutorial, here’s this one that is very simple.

Great thing about this project is that you don't need a sewing machine! You can absolutely sew this pads by hand, although it might take a little bit more time, it's a great evening project: prepare yourself a cup of tea and a put on a show that you really enjoy and you're done. This pads are super soft and work great for removing makeup or to apply things like toner. I use them almost every single day. Give this diy a go because it's eco-friendly too!

05. DIY RECYCLED JOURNAL

I know that march doesn’t seem like a normal month to start bullet journaling, but it might be helpful for the mental health of many people! I know that making your own journal from scratch doesn’t seem very useful because it’s easier go outside and buy one, but since you already have the time and you’re likely to have the supplies at home, why don’t give it a try?

I did this tutorial a year ago, and I’m still surprised on how good this journal has lasted. For the cover I used a scrap of a soft pleather fabric that I had in my stash and has lasted incredibly well, but obviously you can use whatever you like (or have on hand!) I used recycled white paper for the inside and also a cardboard folder, strong thread and some strong glue and A LOT of time a patience. Give it a try if you’re feeling like having a journal made by yourself is just more special.

I hope you can try at least one of this projects this weekend at home, because keeping the brain entertained by learning something new is a great way to keep it strong! If you tried any of this DIY please, let me know in the comments! Hope you’re staying safe, happy and sane at home!

Elf cosmetics was one of the first-ever brands that I purchased when I started liking makeup, therefore, is a brand that I always hold some nostalgia for. Honestly, it has so many good products that I’ve tried over the years!! It’s fantastic being able to find good quality products at low prices and being cruelty-free makes it even better.

*marked are affiliated links, which means that I make a small commission for your purchase.

Over the years they have been getting better with their packaging and their formulas have been improved, making it “the go-to” brand for many people, myself included, especially when I want to try a new makeup technique. Today I want to share with you my favorite products from elf that I’ve been enjoying lately so much, that they have become staples on my everyday makeup! So if you’re in the mood to make some online shopping, here are my favorite picks from them:

ELF TINTED LIP BALM– BERRY

I adore anything makeup-y that you could give multiple uses to and this one has been my favorite product that I use every day in my makeup bag. This Elf Tinted Lip Balm* is in the shade "Berry"  and at first, I was slightly worried that could be too “red” to use every day, but actually, once I tried, discovered that is not too intense, perfect for every day. The color that gives is so beautiful and makes your lips look so juicy. The hydration lasts all day since it’s a balm but doesn’t feel too heavy on the lips.

I use it on daily basis as a blush because it gives such a beautiful color while being really hydrating, with this tinted balm I don’t need to use highlighter because my cheeks look so juicy, natural and pretty. Definitely a top 3 favorite product! If you haven’t tried this as a cream blush: please do! Especially if you’re more on the dryer side.

ELF INSTANT LIFT EYEBROW PENCIL-TAUPE

To be honest, this Elf Brow Pencil* was the first brow pencil that I’ve ever tried and I did it fairly recently. Before this, I kept using eyeshadow or brow pomade, but this brow pencil has been a life-changing product for the “makeup no makeup days”. I have bushy eyebrows with some little sparse areas, which is where this product comes in handy, although I have learned that is better to buy one shade lighter than your eyebrow color to make them look more natural, and let me tell you, this tip works! I use this product to lightly fill the sparse areas and then I use a clear eyebrow gel: most natural eyebrows ever! The only downside of this product is that I finish it up so quickly! But obviously, being so cheap it's worth the try!

ELF MATTE BRONZER*

I had my doubts when I first purchased this one because I have a medium skin tone and I am not so good at picking the right bronzer shade for my skin. At first it felt like it was too redish but it’s more on the neutral side which looks great with my yellow-y skin tone and also works wonderfully as an eyeshadow on the days where you don’t need to much. It’s my favorite product and like my tinted balm, this never fails to be on my everyday makeup bag.

ELF SMALL STIPPLE BRUSH*

Since I love cream products so much, I really still like to use brushes instead of beauty blenders (call me crazy, I know!) This one is one that I use on a daily to blend the blush if it gets too intense. I use it to apply cream bronzer or contour, and I have used it to blend foundation on a rush and to blend concealer to my face. It’s a multipurpose small brush which I love. I wanted to try this brush for so so so long but didn’t know if it was worth it, because, really my collection of brushes is getting out of hand, but since I got it I haven’t stopped using it. Also on my everyday makeup bag, every single day.

ELF FLAWLESS FINISH FOUNDATION*

okeeey you guys!! This a product that I’ve heard for ages that it was soooo goood but never really tried, I needed to finish my other foundations first to justify buying a new one (working on my “no buy until it’s needed” goals for 2020) and did, purchased this one and since the first time applied it I was soo shook! It’s so nice! I’m gonna write a full-on review soon, but I needed to add this to my list because it has become quickly a staple for my everyday makeup. It has a “night cream” like consistency, but blends easily and super nice and gives a satin finish, much more like velvet. It has a nice medium level of coverage but looks so nice and natural on the skin that is a must-have for me!!

These are the products that I use on a daily basis that are my absolute favorites! But as I have some favs, I also have some products from elf that have been disappointing for me, would you guys like to read about those?

One day you decide that you'd like to play with makeup and go to the most reliable source of information out there: the internet. But, turns out that there's so much information that you don't even know where to start. Here's wheres this post comes in handy. I created an easy guide that you can download on your phone, and know exactly what you need to start playing with makeup.

*This post contains affiliate links, which means I might make a small comission out of your purchase.

These are the basics, the only things you need to start, even tho you can adapt and adjust to buy simply what you need and go from there. I'm going to share a few examples of good products you can buy that are on the cheaper side, just so it's easier. Let's start:

STEP 1: THE FACE

Your face is your blank canvas, thats your start point. It's absolutely natural to have some texture, acne, little bumps, redness and else on your skin, ABSOLUTELY NORMAL, and while makeup does a great job making the color on your skin even, it doesn't really do anything to cover textures, so theres that very important thing to know before hand.

1. M O I S T U R I Z E R

First step of your beauty routine should always include a moisturizer and a solar protection. Moisturizer is a "must" because let's face it: no one drinks enough water, has all of the sleep hours or get regular exercising. Its very much needed. Depending on your skin type, you can choose different type of moisturizers but I tell you: EVERY SKIN TYPE NEEDS MOISTURIZER ON THE DAILY BASIS as well as SPF, because the damage that can come from the UV rays is pretty bad. So keep in mind that even tho these are no "makeup! products, they are in fact more important than the rest of the products.

This Hydro Boost cream from Neutrogena is great, it has a gel consistency which makes it great for many skin types and has hyaluronic acid in it which is great for the skin and to retain the moisture.

2. F O U N D A T I O N

The point of using a foundation in your face is to even out the color: if you have redness, hyperpigmentation or little scars around your face, a good foundation will make all of the color look even. Foundations can come in a variety of presentations such as cream, powder, mousse and liquid. I would suggest starting with liquid or cream and then seeing if it works for you.

Also, the foundations usually have a finish in them, lets start with the basics: matte, semi matte, satin or glowy.

- A matte foundation is one where light doesnt reflect on your skin, meaning that it doesn't look shiny or greasy. This type of foundation is good for people with oily skin to start.
- A semi matte foundation is one where has a matte finish but let the skin breathe, so you might find that is not as heavy and you can see your natural oils shining through a little.
- A satin finish is where the foundation can have tiny little particles of shine, that will make you look more radiant.
- And a glowy foundation is a all in shineeeee, which is usually beautiful on people with dry skin.

My choices of foundation to start are definitely some drugstore ones. Elf has great foundation at great prices and my favourite is the Flawless Finish Foundation, which has a semi matte finish and looks very good on the skin. Maybelline's Fit Me Dewy & Smooth is great for people with dry or combination skin.

3. C O N C E A L E R

Concealer can help you with two main things: covering any extra redness or pigmentation that the foundation couldn't cover or brightening some areas of the face.

If you want to use concealer to cover some little spaces around your face, it's best if you choose a color that its your exact shade, while if you're using a concealer for brightening, then you must use a shade or two lighter than yuor skin tone.

For example, under eye concealer should be lighter than your skin tone, because it makes the area looks bright which will give you a more awake look. The places on your face where the light will naturally bounce, can be brightened with a lighter concealer. But, on the other hand, if you're looking to cover a pimple, then you should use a concealer that is your skin shade or your foundation shade.

Lighweight concealers are great to start because you can slowly built the product to get the coverage that you want. My top picks are de Rimmel Wake me Up Concealer, which is a liquid concealer and has a nice light to medium coverage, and works really nice in the under eye area. For more of a creamy concealer, the Bare Minerals Bare Pro Concealer is a nice one to try.

4. P O W D E R

There are two types of powder: pressed powder and loose powder. Usually, pressed powder has more coverage than a loose powder. So, if you need to set your face and add an extra layer of coverage, you can use a pressed powder, however, I'm more of a fan of loose powder, even tho it can get a little messy.

Here's the thing, I think that for starting out, you can really take advantage of a loose powder for two things: usually loose powders are really fine, which makes them perfect to set your under eyes area after you applied your concealer, but also they can work nicely in setting your face after applying your foundation.

Setting your liquid foundation with powder means that you apply small touches of powder around your face to avoid the foundation from moving around or wearing off. Not every single foundation needs to be set, specially matte foundations. I honestly don't set matte foundations, but it's up to everybody. You will need a powder brush to set your face with foundation and a smaller brush to set your undereye area.

STEP TWO - THE COLOR

Here's my favorite part of doing my makeup: adding color to my face. Your face has naturally different color, like the rosy of your cheeks, the glow you get when you are tanned or the natural grey shadows that form in your face for your bone structure. All of these colors are natural, however, when you apply your foundation over you can lose these colors. Here's where other products might come in handy.

5. B R O N Z E R

Bronzer is used to add more dimension to your face and to bring back natural shadows. Stay away from very orange or very grey bronzers and just for starting out, avoid contouring for a while. Practice first with a bronzer.

Some bronzers are matte and others are shimmery, it's totally up to you what type of formula you'd like. Honestly, I'm more of a matte bronzer gal but lately i've been playing with some shiny bronzer to use instead of a highlighter and the finish result is so pretty that I might be getting converted into shiny bronzers. I think that for starting out, you should first try with a matte bronzer with a neutral color.

Bronzers must be on the shade range of light browns and taupe. Avoid anything too orangey, too red and too grey and stick with a natural brown.

Bronzer is usually applied on the parts of your face where the sun would naturally hit, so depending on each face structure, you can apply it on the outter part of your face, your temples, your jawline, your nose and so on. Don't go too overboard with bronzer, the idea is that you start with less and go building the color slowly, because it's easy to get things very bad very fast.

Physicians Formula has a great and popular bronzer called "The Butter Bronzer" which has both, shimmery and matte versions. Its very easy to blend and looks beautiful on the skin. I think it would be a very nice product for begginers.

6. B L U S H

A little bit of blush can make you look younger and fresh, so it's always something pretty to use. You apply the blush on the apples of you cheeks, very lightly, and add extra layers if you feel like it doesn't show too much.

The point is that you look fresh and young, not like you have a rash or fever, so always try to choose blushes in the pink, mauve or neutral pink shades and stay away from barbie pinks, reds or purple for starters.

Elf cosmetics has great blushes for little money, like this powder blush under $5! but I particularly love cream blushes because they are easy to use and last a very decen amount of time. Elf Cosmetics has also cream blushes that are super natural and pretty. This post is not sponsoref by elf by the way, I just love their products so much that I recommend them here.

7. L I P S T I C K

Here's the part where you can really go overboard. Lipsticks have a many variety of finishes, colors, looks and formulas, so it's all up to you to choose what you'd like. Honestly, I'll start with a soft pink and a red lipstick or liquid lipstick, but you can literally choose any color you want.

Also, I'd like to mention that if you have a soft pink lipstick with a satin finish (not matte),  you can use it as a cream blush as well. Having products with multiple uses is my favourite part of makeup, tbh.

STEP THREE - EYES

Honestly, the eyes is where you might need a little bit more of help. Enhancing your eyes is something that looks great in anybody. Eyes are such an important feature of the face that it makes so much sense to enhance them. There are a few ways you  can make your eyes look better with the help of some products.

8. E Y E B R O W S - eyebrow gel

Even tho eyebrows are not technically part of the eyes, they really frame your eyes. There are many techniques to fill or design your eyebrow with pencil, pomades or eyeshadow but for begginers I would stick only to: go to the stetician to let them give my eyebrows a nice shape and then, for the everyday use a eyebrow gel to keep the little hairs in place. This Maybelline Eyebrow Gel is great, does the job and you can find it in most drugstores so it's nice.

9. E Y E L A S H E S - mascara

Eyes looks pretty with long, curved lashes, that's the tea. So having a mascara that makes your eyelashes look long or full  is great. There are many mascaras on the market, maybelline has great ones, but wet n wild has many options for low prices.

10. E Y E S H A D O W

Here's for the bold who want to try and add eyeshadow to their lids. I would suggest that for starters you get a palette that has neutral colors in it: browns, beiges, oranges, maybe some pinks, and then, later on the run, try with other fun colors. My first pick would be these Elf Mad for Mattes Eyeshadow Palettes, they have a decent pigmentation and blend really easy, but Milani also has this great neutral palette that could work to create many, many looks, so it's worth checking it out.

Here are the basics, the things you will need to create a beautiful makeup look. I will post a easy guide for all of the makeup brushes you need, so stay tuned for that! Share this post if you liked to any of your friends who might need a little help or pin it so you always have this guide on hand!

A few years ago, Activated Charcoal became a very popular product for anything beauty-related. I've heard many amazing things about its properties as a whitening agent for the teeth, so when Influenster sent me a Voxbox with this toothpaste in it a few months back, I knew I had to try it out.

What is Activated Charcoal?

If you didn't know, activated charcoal is a really mild, black powder that can come from different natural sources, such as wood, coconut shells, sawdust, or peats.  This "carbon" gets activated because it is processed under very high temperatures.  The thing about activated charcoal is that since the human body doesn't really process this carbon, it can stick to toxins and other agents to help the body get rid of anything unwanted.

This black powder can have really a lot of benefits for the skin, teeth, and overall health. Some people like to use it as a mask to remove any toxins or impurities that may be laying on the skin, other people like to make soaps with it to help the body remove all of the bad things, but it's a very popular ingredient for teeth whitening.

Hello Products

Hello Products are a very small, independent company made in the USA that offers a wide range of products directed to oral health. The great thing about this company is that is cruelty-free and despite the fact that the toothpaste comes in a plastic tube, the box is made with recycled and sustainable bamboo and stevia materials. They are a thoughtful brand, with responsibly sourced ingredients and materials which is something very important to me.

This post is in no way sponsored (I wish!) but I just wanted to be clear on who they are and what they do before I start with the review of their toothpaste.

THE REVIEW

I was very intrigued over how this Hello Activated Charcoal With Fresh Mint + Coconut Oil toothpaste was actually going to work because I've never tried anything like it. Retails for 6$ and it has 4.0OZ (113gr) of product.

The first impression that I had when I first opened was that their box was very pretty and their packaging even tho it was plastic (I assume that it is recycled plastic) it was very sleek and black in color which to me was very interesting. If I see this product on a shelf in a store, it would instantly draw my attention to it because black is not a common color you see in oral health products.

The first time I tried, I noticed that it has a very different taste to an average toothpaste. Stevia has a very particular flavor and if you're not used to it you can distinguish it right away. It's not unpleasant, is actually a normal flavor but yes, it's different from what I tried in the past. My 2-year-old boy didn't like the flavor at all, just to you know.

The toothpaste itself is black, which makes it very weird when you're brushing your teeth because you'll see all of your mouth black, even your teeth and when you spit it out, everything is black. It's easily removable tho, but the black stains on the sink are really annoying. It's best to remove them as soon as they get there because if not, they will make your sink look veeeeery dirty.

Talking about the results, I started seeing results after a month of use. It definitely made my teeth wither but not like in a very big way. They were one or two shades whiter after I finished the toothpaste, which tells me that with its constant use, you will definitely have whiter teeth over time.

Even tho is quite messy, I really liked this toothpaste and it did actually work, which is what we really want, right? It's not expensive at all and the idea of supporting a small and sustainable company is something that I always aim to. The staining part was really annoying but I think it's still worth it.
